Parmesan Cheese Straws

Puff Pastry Parmesan Cheese Straws

makes about 15 straws

These are a very quick and easy breezy appetizer using store bought frozen puff pastry! You

can store the puff pastry in your freezer for months and just pull out about 30 minutes before

you want to whip up a batch of these!

preheat oven to 375 degrees

line two baking sheets with parchment paper, set aside

1 1/2 cup finely grated parmesan cheese

2 sheets thawed puff pastry (follow package directions to thaw)

Dust your work surface with about 1/4 cup cheese.

Place the puff pastry on top of cheese and unfold. Sprinkle another 1/4 cup cheese on top and

roll out slightly. Fold over right to left. Sprinkle another 1/4 cup cheese on top and roll out slightly

again, pressing down to stick the two layers together.

Using a sharp knife, cut into strips about 1 inch wide. Holding the end of each strip twist from

each end to give a spiraled look and place on the prepared baking sheet. Press down on ends

so the strips do not untwist.

Place the sheet in refrigerator for at least 10 minutes, or up to an hour, to chill. This will ensure

that the straws “puff”.

While they are chilling repeat the process with the second sheet of puff pastry.

After the first sheet is finished chilling, remove from refrigerator and bake for approximately 20

minutes. Let cool slightly on sheet and then transfer to a cooling rack. Bake second sheet.

Serve warm or at room temperature.

These are best eaten the day they are baked, but no worries, because there won’t be any

leftovers!!
